Christmas Candle Care & Information
Did you know, there are a few things you can do to help extend the life of your candle…
FIRST BURN
When you light your candle for the first time, allow it to burn for approximately 4 hours, this will ensure the candle burns evenly down the vessel and lasts for as long as possible. Don’t worry if there’s still some wax left on the sides of the candle vessel, this will eventually catch up as the candle burns down.
ALWAYS TRIM YOUR WICK BEFORE THE NEXT BURN
Always trim your wick to 5mm with scissors or a wick trimming tool every time you light your candle, this will help prolong your candle and also ensure a safer burn. Not trimming your wick can cause a high flame that’s too big and could become dangerous. An untrimmed wick can also cause other problems like soot, black smoke or even causing the wick to fall over into the melted wax, making it hard to re-light. Be careful not to trim the wick too short (shorter than 5mm) as this could make the candle hard to re-light.
BURN YOUR CANDLE ON A HEAT-SAFE SURFACE
The candle vessel will become very hot during use, take care when handling and place your candle on a heat-safe surface such as a candle holder. Keep away from any nearby objects such as books, curtains, lamps, furniture, paper, etc.
WARNING
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Don’t burn your candle for longer than the maximum recommended burn time (4 hours).
- Keep burning candles out of reach of children and pets.
- Keep your candle free from any foreign materials and away from drafts.
- Observe your candle when burning and extinguish it when leaving a room.
- Extinguish when 5mm of wax remains, and do not relight.
RE-USE OR RECYCLE
Re-use or recycle your candle glass or tins. To remove left over wax and wicks, put your candle glass / tin in the freezer and the wax will easily come out. Once removed, soak in warm soapy water and give it a good wash afterwards, removing any residue wax.
